A search update review
In brief
A fast and handy but specialised PDF file search engine.
http://searchpdf.adobe.com/
What's a PDF?
'PDFs' are a proprietary file format created by the Adobe
corporation. Unlike word processor documents or web pages, they contain
all the elements for correctly displaying fonts, pictures and
formatting, including the fonts themselves.
Using Search Adobe PDF
The search
interface is definitely a no-brainer. Type the search criteria into the
text box and click 'search.
A list of hits is returned, neatly
formatted.
So far, the
results aren't too different from any other search engine. But click on
one of the brief outlines and surprise, surprise: a fully detailed
summary of the document complete with file size, abstract, location, and
keywords.
Brilliant!
Once there, you can choose to save the document or read it online and
both functions are easily carried out with clear instructions and icons.
Overall
If you think the information you're after might possibly be in a PDF
document (and there are quite a few million on line), this is the
civilised way to search for them.
