A search update review

GoEureka

GoEureka is a new Australian search site- well, kind of new. It's actually a renamed Alta Vista (Australia) site with a spiffy new interface, less advertising, and, as the blurb says, "One that reflects our philosophy that by making it even easier for users to search the web, we can help to take the guesswork out of finding the most relevant content from Australia and around the world"

Using GoEureka

The basic search area is easy to use, with all the usual search entry areas, radio buttons to select the type of match you're after and two handy drop down menus to select where you want to search and the lanaguage.

One nifty addition is an 'exclude words' box- handy when you don't want to delve into intricate Boolean operations.

Super Dooper Search

GoEureka's located a 'Super Search' just a tab away. This has the option for those Boolean operations, filtering by dates (very handy!) and for finding pages with specifics such as certain words in the title, words in the web address, or even links to a particular address.

Clever!

Overall

GoEureka is a great search engine with lots of features (a little slow to show up sometimes) and the Australian slant makes for rewarding searches. The super search is brilliant (you may not even have thought of searching using these filters) and is well worth a play.
